West Coast Camping & Punakaiki

The view from Carolyns deck
Inside the Fox River Cave - it was cold a damp so it almost seemed like ice on the walls. There were areas where the water was waist-high but you couldn't see through it at all and we would have to step over rocks and traverse around these mud pools
River Kayaking on the Porarori River
Drinking the sweet juice from the wild flowers
The Truman Track, just a few min walk from the house, lead to this beach that we frequented

punakaiki

We loved Punakaiki so much the first time around (the place of the Pancake Rocks) that we decided to go back for a week and a half. We camped in the wild for 2 nights and did a week of wwoofing with Carolyn and Parrot. Carolyn has a pretty good side garden and the most amazing view I've ever seen from a residence. Parrot rents a little batch down in the garden and has been there 10 years. We had some awesome food, good conversation, and great walks around the beaches, along the river, and even into a massive Cave!
